Class of 2011
Making a Difference at the Comfort House
May 13, 2011

On May 13th seventy Wellsville High School seniors volunteered to help the Hart Family Comfort House of Allegany County. Under the guidance of their teacher, Mr. Burke, and David Porter and Moe Mead (both on the Board of Directors) the students worked in two shifts planting trees, building stone slab sidewalks, clearing brush, and working on other improvements. This project gave the WHS seniors a chance to engage in service learning as part of their 20 hour community service graduation requirement that needs to be completed during their senior year. The Hart Family Comfort House is located at 141 East State Street in Wellsville. The goal of the Hart House is to provide a home operated for the sole purpose of providing assistance to the terminally ill residents and their families.
