William C. VanNESS – Age 86. Died June 13, 2019 with his loving wife and grandson by his side. He was born in Wellsville, NY to the late Grant and Ruth (Beckwith) VanNess. He moved to Buffalo in the 1950’s and worked security most of his life and retired from Dunlop Tire. He was a proud member of AA and would have celebrated 44 years in November. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Sharon (Plunkett); his children, Kim (Steve) Hughes, Traci (John) Hoffman, Lynda Wolf, Richard, William and Timothy (Della) VanNess; his grandchildren, James (Jennifer), Christopher, Matthew (Christina), Kathryn (Kevin), Melissa, Michael and Michelle (Phil); also survived by ten great-grandchildren and the late Tyler Hoffman. His ashes and family members will be present to receive friends on Tuesday, June 18th from 5-8 PM for those who wish to say goodbye at the Lester H. Wedekindt, Inc., Funeral Home, 3290 Delaware Ave., where a funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA or the American Lung Association.

Charles Thomas McEnroe, age 83, entered eternal rest on August 26, 2017. He was born on October 23, 1933 in Wellsville, New York. Upon Completing his schooling in Wellsville and attending Rochester Business Institute, Tom entered the United States Air Force where he spent over 20 years of serving his country. The best time of his career was being assigned to England where he met his future wife Doreen. After spending time in Arizona and again in England, they were assigned to Lackland AFB until his retirement in 1972. After the military, he was employed at Security Service Federal Credit Union, the 3708 BMTS and Wilford Hall Medical Center, until his final retirement in 1997. Tom and Doreen spent 52 great years together until she passed away in 2011. Preceding him in death was their daughter, Tina Marie and his parents Julia and Donovan McEnroe. He is survived by his son, Chuck, sisters, Mary Ann Leahy, Sally Schleigh and husband Bill, plus relatives in both the United States and England. A memorial graveside will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Fort Sam Cemetery with Air Force military honors.

Richard H. “Dick” Langdon, 82, of 20 Maple Ave., passed away Wednesday (Jan. 25, 2017) at his home following a lengthy illness. Born on April 9, 1934, in Wellsville, he was the son of Arling C. and Christina V. Henry Langdon. On Oct. 15, 1955, in Belvidere, he married the former Diana G. Van Dyke, who survives. Dick grew up in Wellsville, attending and graduating from Wellsville Central School, Class of 1952. Shortly after graduation he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War. He saw action, working with helicopters during his service. Returning to civilian life, Dick was employed at McDonnell-Douglas in California as an assembler for the next several years. In 1967, he returned to Belvidere, where he was employed at Worthington Pump. Moving to Friendship in 1968, he was hired at Stroehmann Bros. in Olean for a short time. Later he was hired at Friendship Dairies, retiring in 1996.
Dick enjoyed woodworking, traveling, reading and watching TV. Most of all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, Friendship American Legion Post 1168 and Teamsters Union Local 264. Surviving in addition to his wife, Diana, are two sons, Richard H. (Diane Jones) Langdon II of Bath and Frederick V. (Letitia Hale) Langdon of Olean; three daughters, Dawn M. (Skip) Keiser of Friendship, Patricia K. (Dennis Smith) Warnica of Andover and Alison E. (Donald) Greene of Andover; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Smith of Alabama and Betty (David) De Voe of Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Melanie Elizabeth Langdon. There will be no visitation or funeral. A memorial service will take place at a future date. Memorials may be made to the Friendship United Methodist Church.
James C. Schreiner

James C. Schreiner, 69, of Connellsville, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, in Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. He was born April 21, 1934, in Wellsville, N.Y., a son of the late Joseph B. and Laura L. Slocum Schreiner. Jim was a graduate of Wellsville High School with the class of 1952. He also attended the Alfred AG School of Technology in Alfred, N.Y. He has been a resident of Connellsville since 1974. He was a member of the Church of God at Greenwood Heights and was a usher at the church. He was a former store manager for J.J. Newberry?s Department Store at various branches throughout New England. Jim had also worked for the former Ames Department Store as a manager of the Bullskin Township store. He was also a former employee of the former Volkswagon of America Corp. in New Stanton. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Presque Isle, Maine. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Linda Smith Schreiner; two sons, Stuart Schreiner and his wife, Lori of Denver, Colo., and John Colon and his wife, Carrie of Scottdale; two daughters, Michelle M. Rickard and her husband, David of Atlanta, Ga., and Angela Leeches and her husband, Paul of Greensburg; eight grandchildren, Joseph and Jeffrey Schreiner, Benjamin and Christopher Rickard, Devin Colon, Steven Pritts, and Leah and Andrew Leeches; a sister, Kathleen Miller of California; mother-in-law, Mildred Smith of Connellsville; and a sister-in-law, Susan Smith of Connellsville. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, William Schreiner. Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional viewing will be held Friday from 9 to 11 a.m., the hour of a funeral service, in the Church of God at Greenwood Heights, with the Rev. Evelyn Stillwagon officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.

Richard E. “Luke” Keib, 86, of 97 Williams Avenue passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at home. He was born July 25, 1933 in Wellsville, the son of the late John Edward and Frances (Gavitt) Keib. On February 8, 1986 in Belfast he married Nancy L. Williams, who survives. Luke was raised in Wellsville, and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U. S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He also served with the Army Reserves from 1955 until 1961. He was employed by Dresser-Rand Corporation from 1957 until his retirement in 1994. He was a 60-year life member of the Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion. He was a noted baseball player in his youth and played fast pitch softball for the Legion in the 1960’s and 70’s. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching the New York Yankees and playing golf. Surviving in addition to his wife Nancy is a son, Daniel (Sharon) Keib of Wellsville, and a daughter, Kandra (Kevin) Garwood of Placerville, CA, three step-children, Greg Hunt of Gray Court, SC, Terri (Bill) Richardson of Livonia, and Keith Hunt of Rochester, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two nephews. He was predeceased in addition to his parents by a son, Joseph Keib, on October 30, 2015, and a brother, James Keib. A private graveside service at Sacred Heart Cemetery is being planned for a later date. Please consider memorial donations to the Hart Comfort House or the David A. Howe Public Library.

Lola J. Cline, 85, of 1974 Hallsport Road, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 at the Hart Comfort House. She was born July 14, 1934 in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Harry S. and Florence (Baker) Allen. On August 2, 1952 in Wellsville, she married Lester V. Cline, who survives. In addition to being a homemaker, Lola was a Restorative Aide at the Highland Park Healthcare Center in Wellsville, and was the Office Manager at Cline Retreading Company in Wellsville. She enjoyed reading, making afghans, bowling and watching television. Surviving in addition to her husband, are two sons Thomas (Patricia) Cline and Kenneth (Teresa) Cline, a daughter Debra (Guy) Jackson, all of Wellsville, a brother, Richard Allen, a half-brother, Lelon (Shirley) Allen, 11 grandchildren, Tabitha (Mark) Jachlewski, Rachel (John) Wells, Nathanael (Erinnae) Cline, Deborah Cline, Timothy (Amy) Cline, Jason Cline, Megan (Michael) Fanelli, Jerad Cline, Andrew (Ashleigh) Cline, Carissa Jackson, and Jennifer (Justin) Henry; 10 great-grandchildren Atley, Elizabeth, Isabelle, Brenda, Luca, Wrigley, Ripken, Logan, Braedyn, and Colin, several nieces and nephews, and two special sisters in-law, Ruth Carney and Eleanor Harrison. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her step-mother, Eva Allen, her sister Bonnie (Allen) Wheeler, step brother, Robert Eck, sister-in-law, Marcella Allen, special brother-in-law, Harry Carney, and a great grandson, Salvatore Fanelli. George J. McNulty Jr., 83, of 3276 First St., died Tuesday (Feb. 14, 2017) at the Hart Comfort House, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 28, 1933, in Chicago, the son of the late George and Helen Dennis McNulty Sr. On July 27, 1957, in Wellsville, he married Judith Kohsiek, who survives. George’s family moved to Wellsville when he was 5. He attended Immaculate Conception School and Wellsville High School, then received an associate degree from Alfred State College. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was employed at Worthington, Turbodyne and Dresser-Rand for 46 years, retiring in 1998. He was a life member and past commander of the Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion, past county commander of the American Legion and member of the 40 & 8. He was a coach for the Wellsville Little League and Legion Junior Baseball League, and he enjoyed playing golf. In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by two sons, Robert, and his wife, Robin, and Michael, and his wife, Pamela; two daughters, Theresa and Christine; three grandsons, Michael, Kenneth and Shawn, and his wife, Katrina; two granddaughters, Ashley, and her husband, Knox, and Kendre; and four great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc., 34 W. State St. in Wellsville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday (Feb. 20, 2017) in the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville. Military honors will follow the Mass, and burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Hart Comfort House, the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps or the SPCA Serving Allegany County.

Lois G. Perkins, age 86, of Trapping Brook Road passed away on Saturday May 26, 2018 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born on July 24, 1931 in Belmont to the late Earl and Glada Mayo Hough. On February 27, 1954 she married Eugene Perkins who predeceased her in 2005. Lois was a long time resident of Hallsport. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl [Bob] Young of Wellsville; 2 sons, Michael Perkins of Wellsville, and Craig Perkins of Hallsport; 4 grandchildren, 11 grandchildren, and 2 nieces. Lois was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her son Darrell Perkins, 3 brothers, and a sister. In keeping with Lois’s wishes there will be no prior visitation and a private burial will take place in the Hallsport Union Cemetery.

Ann Klinger Hennessey, born February 14th, 1934, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at her home in Middlebury, VT after a long illness. She was 79 years old. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard H. Hennessey and children, Bruce K. Hennessey and his spouse Beth of Huntington, VT, Diane H. Hennessey of Seattle, WA, and Robin H. Gucker and her husband Peter of Keeseville, NY. She leaves four grandchildren, Lindsay Gucker of Boulder, CO, Forrest Gucker of Keeseville, NY and Bryn and David Hennessey of Huntington, VT. She was predeceased by her brother, Terry Klinger. Ann was born in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of the late Mildred and Daniel Klinger. She grew up in Wellsville, NY and lived in Canandaigua, NY for 42 years before moving to Middlebury, VT with her husband in 2004. She was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Rochester, NY while living in Canandaigua, and then joined the Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society in Middlebury. Ann did her undergraduate and graduate work in early childhood education at the State University of New York at Geneseo. She began her career as an elementary school and nursery school teacher. She went on to be the Director of the Coordinated Child Development Program (CCDP) of Ontario County, NY for 23 years. Her career at CCDP resulted in the building of a state-of-the-art facility (The Canandaigua Early Childhood Center). Ann’s greatest career contribution was developing a thriving early childhood care system for Ontario County families. She met her husband, Rich, at The North Country Camps (Lincoln and Whippoorwill) in Keeseville, New York, a summer long wilderness adventures camp based in the Adirondacks. They served as senior staff members for twenty years. At camp, she was known for her warm smile and inspiring leadership. She led sailing, swimming, backpacking, mountain climbing, canoeing and music activities. Due to her long association with the camps, Ann was invited to be a director on the board of the Chief’s Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding camperships for disadvantaged youth. After their years at camp, Ann and Rich took to exploring the world. Ann dreamt of visiting the Taj Mahal in India and exploring the Grand Canyon. So, off they went! With their passion for travel, they journeyed to many destinations in the U.S. and around the world, often to places flush with exotic birds. Ann was passionate about the arts. She was a violinist with the Fingerlakes Symphony Orchestra, played for many local theater productions, and sang joyously with church choirs, camp singing groups, and community choruses. She was a talented photographer and created many beautiful images with sensitivity and grace. Colorful quilts, designed and created by Ann, adorn her family’s beds. A lifelong musician, educator, and dedicated mother, Ann was a valued member of her community. She was an active volunteer with many organizations including the Unitarian Universalist Church, Ilsley Library, American Association of University Women, and Addison County Peace Coalition. She loved helping in the community, preparing meals for those in need, reading to children in the elementary school, and helping to bring about a childrens museum in Canandaigua. Everyone knew her warm and loving smile. Ann’s great joy was to see her beloved children grow to accomplished adulthood. Her joyful and giving spirit lives on. A memorial service celebrating Ann’s life will be held on the shores of Auger Lake at The North Country Camps, where her life with Rich began. The family also plans to hold a memorial service in Middlebury. Dates and times for these celebrations are to be announced. Howard E. Lamphier, 85, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018. He was born in Wellsville, the son of the late Elmer and Eva (Chandler) Lamphier. He is survived by his wife, Janet Lamphier, a daughter, Marcia Lamphier (Marshall Hammond), a sister Freida Ballerstein, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in addition to his parents by a son, Gene Lamphier. At Howard’s request, a private celebration of his life is being planned for a later date.

Edward C. Craig, age 81, passed away on Sunday (Aug. 14, 2016), at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 20, 1934, in Wellsville, N.Y., to the late Edward A. Craig and Ada Robbins Craig. Ed served his country with the 11th Airborne Division and the 64th Ordinance Battalion. He received his honorable discharge from the Army in 1955. He was a member of Pleasant View United Methodist Church. Ed began his career in education before moving on to distinguished positions within the home building industry, serving as President and Chief Executive Officer. In his early life he was heavily involved with leadership roles in the Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. All three of his sons were Eagle Scouts. Ed will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Craig; and sister, Sandra C. Aldrich. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Craig; mother of his children, Diane Craig; daughters, Linda Bullwinkle and husband, Dick of Pilot Point, Texas, and Cheryl Craig of McKinney, Texas; sons, Kyle Craig and wife, Wynn of Abingdon, Va., Derek Craig and wife, Robin of Kyle, Texas, and Michael Craig and wife, Alicia of Willcox, Ariz.; stepdaughter, Melissa Newman and husband, Michael of Kennesaw, Ga.; brother, Richard Craig and wife, Kathy of Corfu, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. Friday (Aug. 19, 2016), at Pleasant View United Methodist Church, 18416 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Va. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ralph Kidd officiating. Interment will follow at Elizabeth Cemetery in Saltville, Va., with Thomas M. “Tom” Carter, Jr., Charles Fogarty, Harry L. Frye, Jr., Lloyd Montgomery, Matthew Montgomery and Paul Widener serving as pallbearers. Military Rites will be conducted by the Virginia National Guard and Highlands Veterans Honor Guard. Loren David Lundergan, 82, of Radcliff, KY, died Sunday, April 2, 2017 at his home in the presence of family. He is a US Army Veteran and served from 1953 until 1956. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lundergan; two daughters, Lisa Marie Lundergan and Cheryl “Sissy” Carl; son, David Loren Lundergan; and sister, Ruth Ann Smith.
He is survived by his four sons and three daughters-in-law, Michael D. and Sharon Lundergan of Radcliff; son Mark L. and Mary Lundergan of Elmira, NY; Gregory S. and Kellie Lundergan of Canisteo, NY and Jon Paul Lundergan of Elizabethtown, KY; two daughters, Melody Ann Fratarcangelo of Flaherty, KY and Kelly Lauren Lundergan of Corning, NY, eleven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff with Chaplain Kerry Wentworth officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff with military honors.

Charlotte M. Kellogg, 80, of Shinglehouse, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 in Absolut of Allegany, Allegany, NY after a long illness. Born September 30, 1932 at home in Alma, NY, she was a daughter of Charles and Lina Harrington Dickerson. On December 24, 1958 in Pikeville, NY, she married Thomas John Kellogg, who passed away on September 28, 2010. Mrs. Kellogg was a graduate of Wellsville High School, class of 1952. She had been employed as secretary to the Dean at St. Bonaventure University in the late 1950’s and the 1960’s. She enjoyed gardening and being outside enjoying nature. Surviving are a brother, Carl (Lucille) Dickerson of Belmont, NY; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Christine Carpenter (David) Conner of Allegany, NY. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kellogg was predeceased by a sister, Ruby Burch; and three brothers, Earl Dickerson, Orville Dickerson, and Arvis Dickerson. Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Chad E. Shaffer, pastor of Bell Run Union Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Burial will be in Bell Run Cemetery. Gene R. Fanton, 82, of 3355 Madison Hill passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at home following a long illness. He was born March 14, 1934 in Wellsville, the son of the late Raymond and Marian (Wells) Fanton. On May 16, 1954 in Wellsville, he married Mary Lou Horn who predeceased him on October 30, 2013. Gene was a 1952 graduate of Wellsville High School. He was a 20 year veteran of the U. S. Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served aboard the USS Jeffers, USS George Clymer, USS Dale and the USS Dixie. Gene and Mary Lou formerly owned and operated The Belvedere Restaurant, he later worked for a brief time at Turbodyne Corporation in Wellsville and then became a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Wellsville for 13 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Morrison Hayes Post 702 American Legion, Frank B. Church Post 2530 VFW, the Wellsville Moose Lodge # 601, the Wellsville Elks Lodge # 1495 and the former Christian Temple in Wellsville. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family, he was an avid the Buffalo Bills fan, and he loved his animals, especially Tippy his dog and Missy his cat. The extended family was very happy that Gene and Mary Lou purchased the Horn homestead for their residence. Gene was a loving father to three sons, Gene Fanton Jr., Carl (Kim) Fanton of Wellsville and Jim (Ann White) Fanton of Belmont, 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, two sisters, Beverly “Bunny” Rahr of California and Dorothea “Dottie” Heers of Wellsville, a sister-in-law, Shirley (John) Giopulos of Wellsville, several nieces & nephews and his caregiver, Margaret Hirt. He was predeceased in addition to his parents, by a son, Bill Fanton, a grandson, Carl Fanton Jr., a great grandson, Michael Fanton and a sister-in-law, Cate Horn Tomah. Friends are invited to visit the family on Monday, August 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be Tuesday, August 9th at 11:00 am in the Christian Temple / First Congregational Church at the corner of Maple Avenue and Fassett Street in Wellsville with Rev David Potts presiding. Darlene Mae Irish of Irish Avenue went to be with her Lord and Savior at home on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 4, 1934 in Alma to Elmer A. and Dorothy M. ( Jackson) Brownell Sr. On December 4, 1952 she married Cecil E. Irish who survives.Darlene graduated from Wellsville High School in 1952. She was employed by Wellsville Central Schools as a baker where she retired after 17 years. Darlene devoted her time to caring for her home and family as well as reading and doing cross word puzzles. She was a member and served as an officer of the Shongo Country Chapel. Surviving besides her husband are; a son, Cecil (Mary) Irish; 3 daughters, Vonda Frazier, Valerie ( Michael ) Macri and Darla (Pete Thorburn) Curtis; seven grandchildren, Jodi (John) Roney, CJ (Katie) Irish, Conner and Cooper Frazier, Danielle (William) Turk, Morgan and Rachel Curtis; 3 great grandchildren; a special niece Jeanna Brownell as well as several nieces and nephews. John A. Graves of the Hallsport Road passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at home. He was born on May 28, 1933 in Buffalo and was the son of Forrest and Arabell (Clark) Graves. On February 15, 1965 he married Garnet Layhue who predeceased him on September 4, 2009. John was a lifelong resident of Wellsville and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1952.He was employed as a truck driver for Joyce Western Pipeline of Andover and later Otis Eastern Service of Wellsville retiring in 1995.He was a past member of the Willing Fire Department and was a member of the Teamster Union. John is survived by a son Stephen of Hornell. Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at 7 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home in Wellsville with Pastor Rich Bendelewski. Rudolph “Rudy” Reinprecht, 81, of 3866 Huntington Terrace died Friday, March 20, 2015 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. He was born August 2, 1933 in Olean the son of Anton and Ann (Flicker) Reinprecht. He graduated from Wellsville Central School in 1952, attended Alfred State College, and graduated from Saint Bonaventure University with a BS degree in Mathematics. He married the former Beryl Bailey in 1954 who predeceased him in 2005 after more than fifty years of marriage. They were the parents of three sons: James (Tina) Reinprecht, MD of Perkasie, PA; Jeffrey (Maria) Reinprecht of Houston, TX and Jon (Laurie) Reinprecht of Watertown, CT. Rudy served in the United States Army at Langham Camp in England during the Korean Conflict as a Ballistic Meteorologist and maintained a lifelong friendship with those who served with him. He began his professional career in the Engineering Department of Air Preheater in 1956 where he became Manager of Purchasing and Materials. In 1985 he transferred to Combustion Engineering in Stanford, CT where he worked another twenty years. At that job he assisted in setting up a centralized purchasing system for the Corporation. He was a member of the National Association of Purchasing Managers and a past member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the APCO Management Club. He was a past member of the David A. Howe Public Library Board and a founding member of the Wellsville Jaycees. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Oxford, CT and attended the Christian Temple/First Congregational Church in Wellsville. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 54, Fairfield, CT and a member of the RNC. He was a staunch Republican and expressed himself as such. If there are any Democrats in Heaven, the good Lord will have his hands full! Rudy expressed the same passion for the Buffalo Bills as he did for politics and had been a fan since 1960. He also enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing bridge and woodworking. He built his house in Scio, NY in 1966. He was never one to sit still. Surviving in addition to his sons are six granddaughters and a brother, Robert. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law Lura Rouse and Alma (Richard) Harmer along with several nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by his companion Sharon W. Hedrick-Ash and her sons, Colonel Townley Hedrick (Mary Elizabeth) and Huntley Hedrick (Patricia) and her grandchildren. Friends are invited to call on Friday, March 27th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. A service to celebrate Rudy’s life will be Saturday, March 28th at 11:00 am at the Christian Temple Congregational Church, 289 N. Main Street in Wellsville with Rev. Michael Friday presiding. Annette K. “Yia-Yia” Gianas of Brooklyn Avenue passed away on Tuesday, January 1, at The Pines in Olean. She was born on June 11, 1932 in Wellsville to Kostantinos “Gus” and Sophia Cretekos. On February 20, 1955 in Sykea, Greece she married John P. Gianas who predeceased her on July 23, 2008. Annette was a lifelong resident of Wellsville who graduated from Wellsville High School and attended Keuka College. Annette was a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Jamestown and attended St. John’s Episcopal Church in Wellsville where she sang in the choir and was a member of the St. Anne’s Guild. For several years Annette enjoyed being a crossing guard on Brooklyn Avenue where she loved to see the Children. She will be remembered as a very social person who enjoyed being around other people. Survivors include: a son, Dr. Peter Gianas of Starke, FL.; two daughters, Sophia Gianas of Olean and Cynthia Schroeder of Wellsville; 4 grandchildren, Christina, Timothy, Courtney and Michael; Several nieces, nephews and cousins. ATLANTA, Ga. – On January 16, 2018 the Lord called home his child, Nancy Dannheim Patrick. She was born June 29, 1934, in Wellsville, N.Y. to her earthly parents, Edward and Beatrice Ellsworth Dannheim. She graduated from Wellsville Central School in 1952. Shortly thereafter she married Edward Miller, who died in 1980. The newlyweds moved to Buffalo to settle down to raise their family. She retired from M&T Bank and relocated to Spring Hill, Fla. and worked at the Sun Trust Bank. She later married Glynn Patrick. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, she moved to Atlanta, Ga. to live with her daughter Jacquelyn and was later hospitalized and placed in a nursing home until her demise. Predeceasing her were her parents and step-father, Walt Babbitt; her husbands; brothers, Edward Dannheim and infant Walter Babbitt; and sisters-in-law, Carol Dannheim and Sharon Babbitt. She is survived by her brother Frederick (Sally) Dannheim of Wellsville; a step-brother, William Babbitt of Clearwater, Fla.; her children, Jacquelyn (Miller) Haynes, Patricia (Al) DiFrancesco and Edward (Joyce) Miller. She is also survived by five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service is being planned for the end of June at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wellsville where she was baptized and confirmed.

Edward D. Cornelius, 72, of 941 Stonedam Road, died on Thursday May 11, 2006 shortly after arrival at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 4, 1934 in the Town of Willing to Richard and Mildred Latten Cornelius. On June 20, 1964 in Wellsville he married Ruth Sherman who survives. Edward was a life long resident of this area. He had worked for several companies and had retired from the Worthington Corporation in 1984. He was a life member of both the Alma and Whitesville Rod and Gun Clubs and a member of the NRA. He loved the outdoors including hunting, fishing and competition shoots. Surviving besides his wife: a daughter Sheryl Lafferty of Wellsville; 7 sons, Roger(Shelly) Cornelius of Oswego, Terry(Kim) Cornelius of Rushville, OH, Randy (Lynn) Cornelius of Alma, Stephen (Eileen) Cornelius of Buffalo, Robert (Jeanett) Cornelius of Wellsville, Ron (Valerie) Cornelius of Coudersport, PA., Gunnery Sergeant Don (Maggie) Cornelius serving in the US Marines in Yakima, WA.; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a brother Eugene (Marilyn) Cornelius of Wellsville and a sister Anita (Henry) Graham of Tioga, PA as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Darla; 2 brothers Fred Cornelius and Gerald Cornelius; a great granddaughter and a son in law Bill Lafferty. Stella Josephine Bower, 78, of Riverside Drive, passed away peacefully Monday (Oct. 21, 2013) at the Comfort House of Allegany County, Wellsville, with her family at her bedside. She was born May 26, 1935, in Wellsville, a daughter of Claude and Alice Quick Gowdy. On Aug. 23, 1952, she was married to Bernard L. Bower, who predeceased her March 11, 2001. She was a graduate of the Wellsville High School and owned and operated Stella’s Beauty Shop, until her retirement. She was a member of the Scio United Methodist Church, Genesee Valley Chorus, Scio Free Library Board, Amity Friends Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and Olean Chapter of the Supreme Council of the Amaranth. She was chapter chaplain of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by a daughter, Debra (Ronald) Leitzell of Scio; a son, David (Ann) Bower of Painted Post; four grandchildren, Trish (Sean) Haggerty, Jeff Leitzell, Matt (Katie) Bower and John Bower; four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Brielle, Grace and Anna; brother, Newt (Mary Fay) Gowdy; sister, Sara Fitch; a sister-in-law, Donna Bower; a brother-in-law, Ed (Martha) Bower; and many special friends. Richard “Dick” Franklin Ordiway, 69, of New Bern, died Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at Craven Regional Medical Center. Dick was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where he served on various committees including the Administration Board and the nomination committee. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, St. John No. 3. He was originally from Wellsville, N.Y. and graduated from Alfred University with a degree in engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked many years as an engineer for Weyerhaeuser and was the owner and operator of Rollerland Skating Rink for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Ordiway. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 23, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church with Masonic Rites with the Rev. Danny Allen and the Rev. Charlene Pierce Guider officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park.He is survived by his wife, Virgil D. Ordiway of New Bern; one daughter, Tammy O. Holton and her husband Donald of Greenville; two brothers, David Ordiway and his wife Connie of New Bern and Lewis Ordiway and his wife Betty of New Bern; and three grandchildren, Courtney, Crystal and Hunter Caraway.
