Keith A. Simmons, age 87, of Delavan passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Williams Bay Health Services. He was born in Wellsville, NY on October 5, 1932, the son of Wayne and Doris (McGill) Simmons. He graduated from Wellsville High School and attended Arkansas University as well as Alfred University. In May of 1974, he met his future wife during a vacation in Hawaii and returned to Hawaii with Dorothy A. (Florin) Simmons on their honeymoon as they were married at Emerald Grove Congregational Church on May 16, 1975. Keith was an engineer and helped build an oil refinery in Thailand and a plant for Abbot Labs in Puerto Rico. He was also in the Army National Guard. Keith enjoyed bowling and golfing with his wife in Hawaii and Florida as well as casino trips. He was very involved with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks as he was Exalted Ruler of the Local Lodge twice, State President of Wisconsin Elks Association in 1996, Elk of the Year in 2001, Past Grand Lodge Committee in 2007-2008, and received the President’s Call to Service Award from President Obama for completing more than 4,000 hours of volunteer service. Keith is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy; sons, Barry (Karla) Simmons, of NY, Wayne Simmons, of IN; daughters, Rebella (Gary) Muoio, of NY, Karyl (Dan) Logan, of NY; daughter-in-law, Tonie Simmons; niece, Kay (David) Brewick, of CO; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Keith is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Simmons; sons, Alan and Keith Jr; and daughters, Betsy and Elizebeth. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave in Delavan with Rev. Mike Ligman officiating and a Tribute from the Janesville Elks Lodge #254. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service

Kathryn B. Wienk (Kay) formerly of Stockton NJ, died Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township NJ. She was born September 29, 1931 in Niagara Falls NY, a daughter of the late Karl and Evelyn Neu Brandes. She grew up, married and had her children in Wellsville NY, after which she moved to Flemington NJ in 1959, where she was employed at St. Paul Christian Nursery School. She moved to Latrobe PA in 1978 where she was a Welcome Wagon Hostess. Kay was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Latrobe and was the Sunday School Superintendent, a choir member, past president of the woman’s organization and member of the altar society. She was past president of the Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society, served on the Board of Directors and volunteered in the Occupational Therapy Department of Latrobe Area Hospital. She was a past president of Church Women United and the Woman’s Club of Latrobe and Co-Chairman and past Secretary of the Latrobe Music Club. Kay was past president and a board member of Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Upon her return to New Jersey in 2006, Kay was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Flemington where she was a member of the choir and altar guild, and past treasurer of the woman’s organization. She was also a member of the Hunterdon Senior Chorus and the Flemington Woman’s Club. Kay was predeceased by her husband, Arnie in 2017, and her son-in-law, Harrie E. Copeland III in 2014. She is survived by her two children, a daughter, Cheryl Copeland and fiancé, William Taylor, of Sergeantsville NJ, and a son, Richard Wienk, of Clinton NJ, her two grandchildren, Harrie Copeland IV and partner Beth Luciotti of Sergeantsville NJ and Rachel Copeland Bell and her husband, Christopher Bell of Denver CO, as well as her five great-grandchildren, Kelly, Sydney and Harrie Copeland V, as well as Copeland and Parker Bell. A private family graveside service will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery, in Flemington NJ.

Barbara Jean McReynolds was born on September 17, 1931 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Helen Fontaine and Joseph Nicholas Youmans. She graduated as Salutatorian from Wellsville High School in Wellsville, New York in 1949. In 1953, she graduated from the University of Texas and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. Barbara married Von E. McReynolds on April 5, 1957. They moved to Groves, Texas and she worked as an executive assistant for Humble Oil and Atlantic Richfield. After moving to Katy, Texas in 2005, they were very active in Cornerstone Sunday School Class at Second Baptist, West Campus. Barbara and Von enjoyed life and many friendships in the Heritage Grand Community. She served her family well as a loving mother and wife. Philanthropy and hospitality were key parts of Barbara’s life. Her passions in life were her love for her Lord Jesus and her relationships with her family and friends. She will be missed by all her knew and loved her. Barbara Jean McReynolds passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 in Katy, Texas. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Von E. McReynolds; children, Steven McReynolds and his wife Colleen, David McReynolds and his wife Leslie, and Karen McReynolds; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Private interment was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville, Texas. Agatha was called to the Lord’s house, after a brief illness on December 5, 2019. Agatha was born on May 24, 1931 in Wellsville to the late Rudolph and Gertrude Gallman Wasserloos. She quickly gained the nickname of “Bunny” and carried that name throughout her life. On November 11, 1950, she married Robert J. Whelpley who predeceased her on December 2011. A graduate of Alfred State College, Bunny worked as a lab technician at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, before joining her husband in 1958 to open Whelpley Implement Co. Inc. They operated their business together until 1982 when they sold it. In 1988 Mr. and Mrs. Whelpley moved permanently to Arizona, and they enjoyed many wonderful years there with new friends and a new love for the game of golf. Bunny was a very active mother who was very involved in her children’s activities, while working full time in the family business and also running an active beef farm. She was a leader in 4-H and helped many children gain a love of knowledge of what 4-H stood for. She was also active in the Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday School programs and sang beautifully in the church choir. Bunny is survived by her children, Dr. Robert (Joan) Whelpley, John (Karen) Whelpley, Dr. Janet Whelpley; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Whelpley; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Robert Wasserloos, Ida Rose Mulkin, and Rebecca Mathern; two sons, David and Dennis; and a grandson, Joshua. There will be no visitation and a private family service will be scheduled later at the convenience of the family. After the war he attended and graduated from Ohio University and later worked for Xerox. Predeceased by brother, James, sisters, Erna Richardson and Nan Kozlowski, and son-in-law, Tom Pariso. Survived by wife of over 56 years, Marilyn, son, David (Kathy), daughters, Anne Pariso, Kathryn (Matthew) Hewes, grandchildren, Samantha (Andrew), Amanda (Luke), Joseph, Daniel, Megan, sister, Barb (Dave) Haskins, and many nieces and nephews. K. Robert “Bob” Luce Jr., 87, of Lebanon Road, Randolph, passed away, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at the UPMC Chautauqua WCA. He was born April 26, 1930, in Butler, Pa., the son of the late Kenneth Robert and Mabel (Thompson) Luce Sr. Bob was a 1949 graduate of Wellsville High School and had attended meat cutting school for butchering in Toledo, Ohio. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1949-53 during the Korean War era. He retired in 1992 from MRC-SKF in Falconer after 39 years of service as a millwright. In earlier years, he had worked as a butcher at the A&P Grocery Store in Syracuse, N.Y. Bob attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Randolph, and was a member of the Randolph American Legion Post 181. He had been a Boy Scout as a young man, where he earned Eagle Scout status. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his shop at home and doing woodworking. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Colleen Anne Smith Luce, whom he married on Nov. 24, 1955, in the First Baptist Church of Randolph; a daughter, Linda Gambrell of Madison, Tenn.; four sons: Dale (Karen) Luce of Pittsburgh, Michael Luce and Timothy Luce of Randolph and Patrick (Derae) Luce of Jamestown. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Ronnie Gambrell of Florida, Matthew Gambrell of Tennessee, Arianna Volghtcherna and Katie Gess of Pittsburgh; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive family and friends from 2 -5 p.m. Sunday, (March 4, 2018) at the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, from where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Sylvia J. Hunt, 87, of the Bolivar Road passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at the Jones Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 27, 1932 in Wellsville to the late Mirl and Elnora Knox Hurd. She was married to Ramond Hunt who predeceased her in 2008. Sylvia moved her young family to California where Ramond was stationed while serving in the US Air Force. After his deployment ended they moved their growing family to Wellsville. In 1966, Ramond sought employment with Lockheed and they moved their family back to California and in 1975 she decided to return home to be near her family. She worked outside the the home but became a stay at home mom. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was the family seamstress. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, taking care of her family and will be remembered as a loving care giver. In her later years she enjoyed the interaction with the other residents at the Wellsville Manor Care Center and appreciated the loving care the staff gave her. Sylvia is survived by two daughters, Kathy Wittie of Andover and Kimberly [Dennis] Herr of Wellsville; four grandchildren, Brandon and Kristine Herr both of Wellsville, Kyle [Stephanie] Wittie of Brisbin, Pa. and Kolton Wittie of Almond; three great grandchildren, Kinsley, Thorin and Rowan; several nieces and nephews. Sylvia was predeceased by a son, Gary; her two brothers, Henry and Bruce Hurd; a sister, Velma Walker; and a son in law, Karl Wittie. Herbert R. Reif, Fairport – Passed away on January 14, 2018 at age 86. He is predeceased by his parents, Herbert C. & Ruth (Jarvis) Reif. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Janice C. Reif; children, Sandy (Hoyt) Brown & Tim Reif; grandchildren, Zach, Noah, Connor & Tyler. Herb was a graduate of Wellsville High School, class of 1949, Marietta College, class of 1958, where he met his wife Janice. He was a proud Korean War Veteran, serving in the US Navy. Herb enjoyed a teaching career that spanned more than 30 years; retiring from the East Irondequoit School District. He and Janice were residents of Fairport for over 50 years. Family and friends are invited to Herb’s Memorial Service on Sunday, January 21st at 2PM in the Fairport United Methodist Church, 31 West Church Street, Fairport, NY 14450. Robert “Bob” Lee McEnroe Sr., 87, of Pearl Street, passed away Saturday (Nov. 24, 2018) at Jones Memorial Hospital, after a brief hospitalization. He was born on Dec. 2, 1930, in Wellsville, to the late Chester and Mable McEnroe of Petrolia. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Alice Braunschweiger, in December of 1950, who survives him. Bob graduated from Wellsville High School in 1949 and then attended Alfred University. He graduated from Alfred with a degree in education and taught social studies at Richburg and Wellsville High Schools. Bob spent most of his career at Alfred State College, working in the financial aid and placement departments. Bob was an exceptional athlete while in high school and college. He was one of the last Wellsville High School students to letter in four sports and he played on Alfred University’s undefeated 1956 football team. He was member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church; a past member of the Wellsville Lions Club; and a 67-year member, and honorary life member, of the Elks Lodge 1495, where he served as exalted ruler. Bob was a long time volunteer greeter at Jones Memorial Hospital and was an avid sports enthusiast. In addition to his wife Alice, Bob is survived by his four children, Robert McEnroe Jr. of Grants Pass, Ore., Barbara Ann McEnroe of Long Beach, Calif., Amy Marie Moore of West Islip and David John McEnroe of Corning; a son-in-law, Greg Hollod of Georgia; nine grandsons; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents; his four older brothers, Donavan, Thomas, Chester and Walter McEnroe; and his daughter, Kathryn Ellen Hollod. Beverly J. Abbott, of 4734 Route 305, passed away Tuesday (March 27, 2018) at St. Luke’s Health Services in Oswego, surrounded by her loving family. Beverly was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Wellsville, and was a daughter of Alfred and Alice Edwards Knowles. On Dec. 5, 1950, she married her husband of 41 years, Richard D. Abbott, who predeceased her on March 1, 1992. Beverly worked at Cuba Central School for many years. She was an active member of the Cuba First Baptist Church. Beverly loved to sew, embroider and do crafts, but she especially loved to bake for her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Beverly is survived by three children, Darwin “Ace” (Nancy) Abbott of Manhattan, Kan., Vicky (Robert) Ross of Big Flats and Tammi (Ron) Grace of Baldwinsville; six grandchildren, Aaron (Nicki) Abbott, Nathan (Melissa) Abbott, William (Christina) Ross, TSgt. Louise I. Depew, 87, of Camp Hill, PA, formerly of Wellsville, NY, died Saturday, February 10, 2018 in West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg, PA. Born March 28, 1930, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Olin and Helen Swarthout Barnes. On February 10, 1951, in the Christian Temple, Wellsville, she married Neil Morgan Depew, who predeceased her on April 16, 2015. She was a longtime resident of the Petrolia, NY area. Louise was a member of the Christian Temple, now Grace United Church, Petrolia Grange, and a life-long member of the Petrolia Hose Co Auxiliary. She worked a short period of time for Kaiser Glove Factory. Louise was a Cub Scout Den Mother and for years after her own children were grown, she baby-sat for many families in the Wellsville area. Her love and concern for her family was her passion in life. She enjoyed baking, knitting, camping, and bird watching. Surviving are: a son, Douglas (Judy) Depew of Wellsville; three daughters, Debra (Chuck) Stahara of Camp Hill, PA, Diane (Hal) Branham of Glendale, AZ, and Denise (Daryl) Ordiway of Wellsville; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister Patricia Smith; a brother Donald (Sharon) Barnes; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; and brother-in-law, Roland Smith. Elmer “Jack” Johnson Schneble passed away peacefully on September 26, 2017. Jack was born on November 4, 1931 in Wellsville, NY where he grew up and met his wife Helen Dean. Jack enlisted in the Army in 1957, serving for 20 years including a Vietnam tour where he earned the bronze star. He retired from the Army while stationed in Colorado and became administrator of the Health Department of Colorado Springs, later he was employed by McGraw Hill in Colorado and New York. He held various consulting positions and permanently retired at the age of 72, moving back to his hometown of Wellsville, NY, and then to Florida. Jack was active in his communities volunteering with the Serra Club and Habitat for Humanity. Jack is survived by his wife Helen, children Anne Egan (Douglas), Dean (Phyllis), John (Elizabeth) and loving grandchildren Hannah, Connor, Olivia, Sam, Finn, Jack, Alexandra and Caroline. Doris D. Mingus, 83, a former longtime resident of 37 Franklin Street, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. She was born March 21, 1932 in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Francis and Ella (Vogel) Donovan. On January 30, 1954 in Wellsville she married Robert H. Mingus who predeceased her on July 8, 2001. Doris was a 1949 graduate of Wellsville High School and a 1952 graduate of the Sisters of Mercy, School of Nursing. She was formerly employed at Jones Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, the Altar & Rosary Society and the Lord’s Housekeepers. She was a former member of the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department; Ladies Auxiliary and delivered Meals on Wheels. She was a supporter of the Arbor Day Foundation, the National Audubon Society and enjoyed knitting. She is survived by five children, Michael (Nancy) Mingus of Lyndonville, Stephen (Terri) Mingus of Livonia, Diane (Jerry) Giardina of Enola, PA, Andrew (Kim) Mingus of Mechanicsburg, PA and Monica (Mark) Finn of Wellsville, eight grandchildren, Marissa Mingus, Paige (Ross) Donatelli, Jeremy Giardina, Joshua Giardina, Zachary Mingus, Sean Mingus, Patrick Finn and Connor Finn, one great grandson, Xavier Mendoza, one brother, Donald (Carol) Donovan of Cuba, a sister-in-law, Floy Donovan of Wellsville and several nieces & nephews. Georgia M. (Lewis) Sherman, 80, of 191 Rauber Street passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Wellsville Manor Care Center with her family at her side. She was born October 8, 1931 in Whitesville the daughter of Leon and Florence (Gould) Lewis. On October 15, 1949 in Stannards she married Herbert “Gerry” Sherman who predeceased her on July 1, 2010. Georgia attended Wellsville High School. She sold Avon products and worked with her husband as a secretary at H. G. Sherman Tax Consulting in Wellsville for many years. She enjoyed playing golf and antiquing, and will be remembered for her flower gardens. She was a member of the Hallsport Christian Church. She is survived by two sons, Terry (Nancy) Sherman of Glendale, AZ and Ronald (Kathy) Sherman of Wellsville, a granddaughter, Jenna Sherman of Glendale, AZ, a grandson, Greg Sherman of Old Town, FL as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Lewis and a sister, Onalee Pakis. Friends are invited to call Friday, December 2, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J. W. Patricia K. Reisman of Fords Brook South Branch went to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 23, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 19, 1932 in Wellsville to Alvin W. and Mildred Dodson Edwards. On May 31, 1952 she married James K. Reisman who predeceased her on May 23, 1993. Patricia resided in Wellsville and Elm Valley all her life and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1949. She was employed by Grants, Grand City and then K-Mart for over 40 years. She was an avid horsewoman who was a member of the Southern Tier Horse Riders Club and she also participated in the Ridge Walk as an aid station attendant. Patricia was a member of the York’s Corners Mennonite Church where she had taught Sunday School for 10 years and was involved with many of the Churches children’s activities. Survivors include: 2 daughters, Janet K. (John Fleischman) Reisman of Wellsville and Jaclyn (Robert) Cummins of Friendship; 2 sons, Jim K. Ida “Joyce” Thompson, 80, of 17 East Hanover Street passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Jones Memorial Hospital with her family at her side. She was born January 3, 1932 in Canisteo the daughter of the late Thomas and Alma (York) Taylor. On October 3, 1953 in Wellsville she married Jeffrey T. Thompson who survives. Joyce resided in Canisteo and Greenwood until her family moved to Wellsville in 1940. She was a 1949 graduate of Wellsville High School. She was formerly employed at Sanbourn Pharmacy and Coats Drug Store in Wellsville. She was a life member of the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Ellen (Karl) Perkins of Andover and Valerie Wells of Alden, four grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Thomas D. Taylor and one sister, Marian Stephens. Friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11:00 am at the J. W. Keith A. Simmons, age 87, of Delavan passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Williams Bay Health Services. He was born in Wellsville, NY on October 5, 1932, the son of Wayne and Doris (McGill) Simmons. He graduated from Wellsville High School and attended Arkansas University as well as Alfred University. In May of 1974, he met his future wife during a vacation in Hawaii and returned to Hawaii with Dorothy A. (Florin) Simmons on their honeymoon as they were married at Emerald Grove Congregational Church on May 16, 1975. Keith was an engineer and helped build an oil refinery in Thailand and a plant for Abbot Labs in Puerto Rico. He was also in the Army National Guard. Keith enjoyed bowling and golfing with his wife in Hawaii and Florida as well as casino trips. He was very involved with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks as he was Exalted Ruler of the Local Lodge twice, State President of Wisconsin Elks Association in 1996, Elk of the Year in 2001, Past Grand Lodge Committee in 2007-2008, and received the President’s Call to Service Award from President Obama for completing more than 4,000 hours of volunteer service. Keith is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy; sons, Barry (Karla) Simmons, of NY, Wayne Simmons, of IN; daughters, Rebella (Gary) Muoio, of NY, Karyl (Dan) Logan, of NY; daughter-in-law, Tonie Simmons; niece, Kay (David) Brewick, of CO; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Keith is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Simmons; sons, Alan and Keith Jr; and daughters, Betsy and Elizebeth. Audrey J. Robbins, 84, of 11 Pennsylvania Avenue passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Cuba Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born August 19, 1931 in Wellsville, she was the daughter of Wesley and Martha Saunders Beach. On October 7, 1950 in Wellsville she married Donald W. Robbins who predeceased her in 2007. Audrey grew up in Wellsville, attended and graduated from Wellsville High School class of 1949. After her marriage to Donald, she and her husband moved to Whitesville, Angelica and Cattaraugus as Donald worked for Agway and was transferred to those towns. She came to Friendship in 2012.She enjoyed all kinds of crafts, traveling to Florida, spending many winters there with her husband, watching TV, and playing BINGO. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them.Audrey attended the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Cattaraugus and the United Church of Friendship. Surviving are three sons, Donald P. (Marilyn) Robbins of Leroy, NY, William L. Robbins of Cattaraugus, NY, and Gary J. (Annie) Robbins of Rockwood, TN; two daughters, Barbara J. (Brad) Botens of Wayne, NY, and Diana (Kirk) Kirch of Friendship, NY; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; a brother, Harold (Theresa) Beach of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.Audrey was predeceased by a son, James Robbins; and three sisters, Alice Padden, Betty Dieter and Gladys Brisbee. Richard H. “Dick” Feller, 84, of 70 South Franklin Street passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014 at home following a brief illness. He was born July 13, 1930 in Wellsville the son of Harold M. and Myra (Reynolds) Feller. On July 24, 1954 in Oakland, NY he married Lois Cox who survives. Dick was a graduate of Wellsville High School and was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U. S. Army from 1951 to 1955. He was formerly employed at Bausch and Lomb and the Capital Plastics in Wellsville and was a meat cutter for Umiker’s Market. He later began his career as a machinist with Worthington Corporation and retired from Dresser-Rand in 1994. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist Moore Lodge 1580, the Morrison-Hayes Post 702 American Legion and was a former member of the Wellsville Moose Lodge # 601. He played the banjo for a Country and Western band in the 50’s & 60’s and enjoyed Round and Square Dancing, hunting, fishing, bowling, golf and had a great sense of humor. Surviving in addition to his wife Lois are twin daughters, Jackie Feller of Rochester and Judy Kear of Wellsville, six grandchildren and their spouses, 15 great grandchildren, a brother, Carl Feller of Wellsville, several brothers and sisters in law and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jeannie Feller and a brother, Harold “John” Feller. Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will be Friday, October 17, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Rev. Robin George presiding. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Janice (Pease) Boring Davis passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at the Hart Comfort House surrounded by her children. Janice was born in Wellsville on July 22, 1932, the daughter of Harry S. and Margaret (McCullum) Pease. On January 10, 1953, she married Stewart Boring Jr., who predeceased her on November 15, 1990. She later married Darrell E. Davis, who predeceased her on June 3, 1997. Janice was a graduate of the Wellsville Central School Class of 1949. Until her retirement, she was employed by Jones Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed her time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed spending time at Rushford Lake. Janice was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 702, as well as a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 601 and the Lady Elks Lodge 1495. Janice is survived by her brother, Steven (Diana) Pease, of Wellsville and three children: Suzanne (Timothy) Colligan of Wellsville; Rebecca (Richard) Archambault of Tonawanda; and Daniel (Megan) Boring of Flourtown, PA. In addition, she is survived by three grandchildren: Erin Dahlgren of Wellsville; Scott Archambault of Buffalo; and Lucca Boring of Flourtown; as well as three great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Wheeler, and Timothy Dahlgren of Wellsville, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and spouses, Janice was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Pease, in 1948; a son, Scott Boring, in 1975; and grandson, Shane Colligan, in 2003.Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville. Mr. Gowdy was born on April 13, 1932, in Wellsville, NY, the son of Claude and Alice Quick Gowdy. After graduating from Wellsville High School in 1949, he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed with the MPs in Germany. Returning home, Newt enrolled in the Syracuse University School of Forestry and Ranger at Wanakena in the Adirondacks. After graduation, he came to Newark to work as a surveyor with Harnish and Lookup, marrying the boss’s daughter Mary Fay Lookup in 1956. He continued his education at Alfred State College and then took a job in Philadelphia. Not liking the city life, Newt returned to Newark to work for his father-in-law. He finally left to start his own businesses which he ran for many years in Penn Yan, Bath, Corning and Wellsville. Eventually he returned to Newark and opened an office in Lyons, retiring in 2006. Newt was a member of the Masonic Lodges in Wellsville, Newark and Corning. He was member of First United Methodist Church in Newark where he was a lay speaker, conference trustee and served in the hospital visitation program. While in Penn Yan, Newt was a volunteer fireman and in Newark, he was a member of the Rotary. He was involved with the local go-cart and micro sprint racing with his grandson Chuck. His family had a hunting camp near Wellsville where he became a lifelong hunter and outdoorsman. Newt loved Little League baseball and was a umpire for several years, he also enjoyed bowling and playing softball. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Fay; a son, Robert of Cairo, Ga., daughters and son-in-law, Sue and Sparky Litteer and daughter, Laura DeCracker, both of Newark; two grandsons, James Witter and Charles DeCracker; two great-grandchildren, Payten and Cole De Cracker; a sister, Sara Fitch of Friendship, NY. Newt was predeceased by his parents and a sister Stella Bower.

Esther Church Strawson, 81, passed away at The Penn Center in Reidsville, N.C., on June 1, 2013. A funeral service was held June 4 at Prospect United Methodist Church in Yanceyville, N.C. Esther was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Wellsville, and was raised on a dairy and potato farm. She was a graduate of Wellsville High School and she continued her education at Cornell University where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. While at Cornell, she met Fred, the love of her life and husband of nearly 60 years. Esther followed Fred from Avon to the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia, and finally to their home on the outskirts of Yanceyville, where they resided for the past 18 years.Esther was a former County Extension Agent for Genesee County. Once she and Fred began their family, Esther became a full-time homemaker. She continued her involvement with the County Extension agencies by judging a variety of baking contests at county fairs over the years and she was quite well-known for her pie baking skills. Esther was active in the Tar Heel Brittany Club and worked side-by-side with Fred when they hosted field trials on their farm in Yanceyville. Until the past few years, Esther rode her own horse at the trials and was a tireless supporter of the club. Esther also volunteered with Meals On Wheels of Caswell County and had her own route for a number of years. Esther was an active member of the Prospect United Methodist Church and co-chaired the Homebound Committee with her husband for approximately 10 years, bringing church news and warm wishes to those unable to attend worship. She also loved working with her hands and created many beautiful Chrismons for the church Christmas tree. Esther brought much joy to her family. She was well-known for her glowing smile and sweet disposition. She was truly one of those naturally happy people who were happiest when surrounded by her family. Esther was a true wordsmith and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and any word game that she could entice someone to play with her. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed looking out over their pond and watching the various birds at play. As her health declined, Esther could be found sitting on the front porch, soaking in the warm sun. Esther was preceeded in death by her parents, Carroll Church and Mildred Whitney Church of Wellsville. She is survived by her husband, Fred M. Strawson of Yanceyville; a sister, Phyllis Moore of Wellsville; a brother, William Church of Wellsville; daughters, Phyllis (Jimbo) Baker of Reidsville, N.C., and Karen (Tom) Gross of Richmond, Va.; a son, Fred M. (Adriana) Strawson II of Spring, Texas; five grandchildren, Kiley, Scott and Mac Baker and Jack and Luke Strawson. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Steve) Williams; grandchildren, Darrell (Christine) Boyd of AL & Kim Boyd of FL; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings, Pat (Mario) Liberati of Olean, NY & Jack (Donna) Muchler of Rochester, NY; nephews, Danny (JoAnne) Liberati of Hinsdale, NY & David Liberati of Fredonia, NY; niece, Melissa Muchler of NC; & her loyal four-legged companion, Luke. Bev was born and raised in Wellsville, NY where she graduated and married LaVerne. They eventually moved to Silver Lake (old Orchard Beach) NY and then to East Koy, NY. After many years they retired and lived in Florida for over 40 years. Bev and Vern spent many years touring on their motorcycle, the biggest trip being to Nova Scotia.They also belonged in a Motor Home club touring Florida and the East Coast. They spent many years in Bartow, FL at Floral Lakes Community. Bev loved shuffleboard, cards, bingo, and pot luck dinners with all of her friends whom she missed very much while being back in NY the last two years. She will be missed by family and friends for her zest for life. She is at peace. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Geraldine ‘Geri’ Smith Hills, 86, of 3319 Trapping Brook Road, passed away in her home on Friday (Feb. 26, 2016) following a brief illness. She was born Oct. 5, 1929, in Hornell, a daughter of the late Lyle and Leone Dodge Smith. She was a lifelong resident of the Wellsville area. On Aug. 6, 1950, at the Christian Temple Church in Wellsville, she married Ralph E. Hills, who survives.She was a graduate of Wellsville High School. She was a longtime member of the Christian Temple Church of Wellsville and a member of the former Rebecca Lodge in Wellsville. Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Sheila (Paul) Oliver, Janet (Robert) Wesche O’Loughlin and Carole Rich, all of California; two sons, Brian Hills and Alan (Karla) Hills, both of Wellsville; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Merry of Scio and Frances (Lee) Gillan of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Kevin Hills; a grandson, Brian R. Hills Jr.; a brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Smith; and a sister, Barbara Dodge. Richard C. “Rick” Mason, 81, of Wellsville, passed away on Wednesday (Jan. 16, 2013) at the Hart Comfort House following a three-year battle with cancer. He was born on Oct. 20, 1931, the son of Frank and Laura Burelson Mason. On Nov. 10, 1956, he was married to June Arlene Cline, who survives him. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1949 to 1952 as a staff sergeant. As a lifelong resident of Wellsville, he was a graduate of Wellsville High School. He retired from the Dresser-Rand Corp. of Wellsville in 1995 after 30 years of service. He was a past commander of the Morrison-Hayes American Legion Post 702, a life member and past governor of the Moose Lodge 601 and a life member of the PBOE Lodge 1495, all of Wellsville. He will be greatly missed by his wife, June, and children, Gail (David) Aiken of Henrietta and Robert Mason of Chicago, Ill. Other survivors include two brothers, Kenneth “Bud” and Jack (Ruth) Mason of Wellsville; special niece, Dawn (John) Riley of Wellsville; his four beautiful grandchildren, Kristen, Emily, Patrick and Amy Aiken of Henrietta; and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Marie “Tillie” (James) Richardson, in 2012. Corinne J. Larsen Kunz, 84, of Leesburg, FL passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. Born in Wellsville, NY on September 1, 1931, she graduated from Eastman School of Music. She and her husband moved to Leesburg in 1957 where they opened Larsen’s Men’s Store. Corinne taught piano to many local students. She assisted playing the organ and sang in the choir at Morrison United Methodist Church. She was a P.E.O., member of the Methodist Women’s Circle, and many other church committees. Corinne enjoyed golf, bridge, and travel. She collected cut glass. She was survived by her husband, George T. Kunz of Leesburg, FL; son, Bobby C. (Barbara) Larsen of Erie, CO; step-daughters, Kristina Foster of Loveland, CO and Karen Kunz of Beverly Hills, FL; and her grandchild Justin Larsen. Funeral Services will be held at Morrison United Methodist Church, Leesburg, FL on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 1:00 pm, Rev. Dr. McCoy Gibbs will preside. Private First Class Goetschius was a member of Company B, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy near Taegu, South Korea on September 1, 1950. Private First Class Goetschius was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Korean War Service Medal.

Margaret M. (Mullin) Passed away on August 24, 2015. She was born August 12, 1931 in Buffalo, New York to John and Ruth Mullin. She was the second of four children. She moved in high school to Wellsville, New York to live with her two great- aunts. There she met our dad, Jack Satterlee. They graduated together in 1949 from Wellsville High School and married the next year. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before Dad’s passing in 2012. Mom worked at the phone company after high school and again starting in the 1970s. She retired with 25 years of service. She stayed busy as a Sunday school teacher, scout leader and Beta Sigma Phi sorority member. Last year she was awarded for 50 years membership by her local sorority sisters. A lifelong hobby of sewing turned serious in retirement when she became a dedicated and accomplished quilter. She took great pride in her work. We all are blessed with the bounty! Family meant the world to her. She loved being a grandma and a great grandma. Margaret was a gentle soul who was silly and made us all laugh. We will miss her. Margaret is survived by her four children; Jack H. Satterlee, George H. Satterlee both of Spokane, Ann Warner (Patrick) and Jill Edens (Jerry) of Liberty Lake and six grandchildren; Ryan Satterlee, Graham Satterlee, Galen Satterlee, Amy Bjorn, Randy Edens and Josie Warner and nine great-grandchildren; Dane Satterlee, Paige Satterlee, Gwen Satterlee, Brad Bjorn, Maddie Bjorn, Preston Bjorn, Carter Edens, Ella Edens, and Kasey Edens. Don Grimes, age 77, died on Sunday, Feb 17, 2008.Don was born in Wellsville, N.Y., the son of Eva and Lawrence Grimes.In 1956, he graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a degree in engineering. While on active duty, he served on a variety ships, among them the U.S.S. Somers. After military service he was employed at Honeywell in Los Angeles, where he met his future wife, Sharon. They were married in 1963. Don held various engineering and marketing positions, as well as having a career in electron microscopy. Most recently he founded the trade journal, Microscopy Today. He had many hobbies and skills, including making cedar strip canoes and woodworking. Don enjoyed his family and friends and lived life to the fullest. Don is survived by his wife, Sharon; two children, Jennifer Baillies (Jeffrey) of Oregon and John Grimes (Jennifer) of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Paige and Jack Baillies and Phoebe and Greta Grimes; and sisters, Barb Guynup and Joan (Sandy) Reuning. Per Don’ s request, there will be a private ceremony for immediate family members. PAUL W. STEVENS, JR., 72, of 1200 Alma Hill Road, passed away unexpectedly June 25, 2004 shortly after arrival at Jones Memorial Hospital. He was born July 3, 1931 in Wellsville the son of Paul W. Sr. and Margaret (Hull) Stevens. On April 29, 1972 in Wellsville he married Alice A. Vossler who survives. He was a lifelong resident of Wellsville, attending Wellsville High School with the class of 1949. He served in the U. S. Air Force in Korea in 1952. He was a former employee of Sinclair Refinery, Scoville and Brown, and Long View. He was a patrolman for the Wellsville Police Department and was a New York State Trooper from 1962-1979. He also served as an Allegany County Legislator in 1994. Paul was a member of the 18th Fighter-Bomber Wing Association, Wellsville Elks Lodge #1495, Wellsville Moose Lodge #601, Morrison Hayes Post #702 American Legion, the National Rifle Association, the Association of Former New York State Police, and a life member of the Wellsville Country Club. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his wife Alice he is survived by a son: Paul (Karen) Stevens III of Arkport, 2 grandchildren: Alexis and Zachary Stevens of West Virginia; 2 sisters: Carol Erwin of Wellsville and Patricia Brown of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral service with military honors will be on Tuesday June 29th at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Robert Morris presiding. Memorial suggestions include the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the American Legion Post # 702 or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Mary J. Hastas of 421 Second Ave. passed away on Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014) in the Olean General Hospital. Mary was born on June 1, 1931, in Wellsville, and was a daughter of James and Helen Bravis Regis. On July 31, 1955, in Wellsville, she married her loving husband of over 52 years, James G. Hastas, who predeceased her on Oct. 19, 2007. Mary was a 1949 graduate of Wellsville High School, where she was prom queen. She continued her education at Keuka College and received her BA in business. Mary worked as a much loved teacher in Friendship for a number years. Mary was a wonderful mother with a great sense of humor, contagious laugh, and a kind sweet caring personality. She enjoyed car traveling, especially near the ocean, listening to music and loved her cats, Hurkey and Breeze. Mary was co-owner of Hastas Restaurant in Olean with her husband, Jim, for 40 years where she kept the books and loved to sit at the back table keeping an eye on things! Mary is survived by a son, Dean J. Hastas of Olean; a daughter, Theola C. (James) Sweeney of Kingston, Mass.; 3 grandchildren, Timothy, Kelly and Michael Sweeney, all of Kingston, Mass.; 2 brothers, John (Doris) Rigas of Coudersport, Pa., and Gus (Rheba) Rigas of Wellsville; a sister, Katherine Rigas-Pallas of Naples, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by 2 brothers-in-law, Dr. William Pallas and John Hastas; and her in-laws, Gus and Theola Hastas of Franklinville. Friends will be received in the St. Stephens Episcopal Church on Thursday (Feb. 13, 2014) from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at which time Funeral Services will be held. The Rev. George Zervos, Pastor of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Jamestown, will celebrate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany. Friends are invited to attend a Life’s Celebration Dinner immediately following the funeral service at Old Library Restaurant. Paul E. Gavitt, 82, of Ledyard Road, King Ferry, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 at the Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca. Mr. Gavitt was born in Standard, the son of the late Eli L. and Mary Emily Sheehan Gavitt and resided in southern Cayuga County since 1965. Paul Gavitt served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. While attending Cornell University, he played baseball, football and also wrestled at the collegiate level along with achieving his undergraduate degree in 1958. He later was awarded his master’s degree from St. Bonaventure University. In addition he was awarded degrees from Alfred State University and SUNY Oswego. He began his teaching career at LeRoy Central School and later at Portville Central where he taught school, and coached the 1963 state football championship team along with baseball and wrestling. In 1965, he joined the faculty at Southern Cayuga Central School as a guidance counselor and retired in 1991 following 26 years of service. In addition to teaching, Paul Gavitt owned and operated a Registered Polled Hereford Farm, he volunteered his time with the Poplar Ridge Instant Aide and was a member of the Walter T. Conley American Legion Post 1107. He loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was inducted into the Wellsville High School sports hall of fame on May 30, 2009. Surviving is his beloved wife of 61 years, Bonny Goodliff Gavitt; two sons, Ben K. Gavitt and his wife, Mary Jo, of Union Springs, and Eric M. Gavitt and his wife, Kelly, of Lansing; one daughter, Paula J. Colton and her husband, Rand, of King Ferry; one brother, Harold Gavitt and his wife Marty, of Texas; five grandchildren, Nathaniel Gavitt, Kaycee Nedrow, Brandon Gavitt, and Kelly and Claire Colton. Paul Gavitt was predeceased by his son, Kelly P. Gavitt, who died in 1961; two sisters, Ruth Hurd who died in 1979, and Thelma Weaver who died in 2012; and his grandson, Patrick who died in 2004. Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment services will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville, with full Military Honors. Thelma L. Weaver of 1950 Standards Road passed away Monday (March 19, 2012) at home following an illness. Mrs. Weaver was born June 4, 1929, in Wellsville, a daughter to Lincoln and Emily Sheehan Gavitt. On April 14, 1957, in Wellsville, she married her husband of nearly 51 years, William B. Weaver, who predeceased her April 14, 2008. Mrs. Weaver was a graduate of Wellsville High School. She worked for Corning Glass for many years and retired as an inspector. Mrs. Weaver was very active in her nieces’ and nephews’ lives and enjoyed spoiling them. She also enjoyed camping and fishing, flowers and crafts, and taking an annual trip to Canada with her loving husband. Mrs. Weaver is survived by two brothers, Harold (Marty) Gavitt of San Antonio and Paul (Bonnie) Gavitt of Kings Ferry; and several nieces and nephews; a special niece, Phyllis Skudlarek, and a special caretaker, Debbie Jaeckle, who were both like daughters she never had; and special friends Carolyn and Stanley Burrell. Mrs. Weaver was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Hurd. There will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday (March 23, 2012) in Stannards Cemetery. Dona I. Blake, 83, of Gold, Pa., died Friday, March 20, 2015 in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, Pa. Born November 6, 1931, in Whitesville, N.Y., she was the daughter of Leonard and Violet Carl Garner. On November 10, 1953, in Ulysses, she married Henry K. Blake, who predeceased her on January 3, 2015. She was employed by Galeton Production and Gol-DEN-Ray for many years. Dona was a member of the Gold Church and the former Gold Missionary Society. A devout Christian, she raised her children in the Lord. Surviving are: five children, Leonard (Evelyne) Blake of Las Vegas, Nev., Cheryl (Albert) Witt of Scio, N.Y., Melvin (Jacquelyn) Blake of Genesee, Pa., Thomas (Kate) Blake of Hornell, N.Y., and Karen Blake of Olean, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lavern Garner of Leroy, N.Y. and Virgil (Linda) Garner of Andover, N.Y.; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two grandchildren, Jason and Julie. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery. Elizabeth (Betty Ann) Kennedy, 83, passed away peacefully December 26, 2014 after a short illness at her home in Kent, Washington. Born August 25, 1931, in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Fred and Alice Garthwait. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Thomas Kennedy in 2012. Betty is survived by their son, Thomas J. Kennedy of Bonney Lake, WA, two daughters, Ann (John) Corbett of Maple Valley, WA, and Katherine (Kirk) McCann of Lakewood, WA, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Betty was raised in Wellsville, NY and received her Registered Nursing degree from Sisters of Charity Nursing School in Buffalo, NY. Her weekends were spent with her Aunts and Uncles in Olean or at her Aunt’s farm in Rushford, NY. Betty and Tom were married in 1955 and traveled around the country as the pursued their careers, raising a family, and finally settling in Kent, WA. Betty enjoyed traveling, gardening, walking her dog, and spending time with family and friends. She thrived on staying current on many topics, including politics and healthcare. Betty and Tom were long time members and volunteers of St. Philomena Parish.

Kathleen Diana “Dee” Atwood, 82, of 339 South Main Street, passed away on Wednesday (Jan. 22, 2014) at the Wellsville Manor Care Center following a brief illness. She was born Jan. 12, 1932, in Wellsville, the daughter of the late Alfred and Mildred (Fowler) McGinnis. On Oct. 29, 1949, she married Kenneth L. Atwood, who predeceased her on June 14, 1981. Diana was a graduate of Wellsville High School. She and Ken lived in the Far East, Australia, Texas and England for 30 years until Ken’s unexpected death in 1981. She then came home to Wellsville and was a member of the Women of the Moose for several years. She is survived by two sons, Patric T. Atwood of Rowlett, Texas, and Timothy L. McGinnis of Rochester; two daughters, Kristine L. Avery and Dana D. Abney, both of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Frank, Alfred and Thomas McGinnis; one sister, Mary Thompson; and Fritz Graves, Dee’s long time companion, who died in 1992. At Diana’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the S.P.C.A. Serving Allegany County.

Thomas Aldon Duke, 81, of Largo, FL and formerly of Hammondsport, NY, passed away peacefully after a short illness on November 4, 2012. Tom was born May 27, 1931 in Roulette PA. He was the youngest of 9 and is predeceased by his parents Linn Langdon and William John Duke, his older Duke siblings and his ex wife Carolyn Hale Duke. Tom was a Korean war veteran and a graduate of SUNY Geneseo. He taught English and Reading to 7th and 8th graders in Hammondsport, NY from the 1960’s to the 1980’s. Every year he dramatically read the Odyssey and Beowulf, just to name a few, to his classes and insisted that they learn Latin prefixes and suffixes. He was also heavily involved in the NY State Reading Association and sang loudly in many church and barbershop choirs. Tom is best known for his numerous amateur and professional theatrical productions as actor and director. As a friend recently said “the world has lost a little color”. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Duke Harpending, her husband Steve John Anstey of Corning, NY and her three children; Emerson Duke Harpending of Rochester, NY, Alexandra Carolyn Harpending of Brooklyn, NY and Julius Clay Harpending of Syracuse, NY; numerous nieces and nephews all over the country. Please join us for a memorial celebration of his life to be held November 18th, 2012 from 1pm to 3pm at the Village Tavern on The Square in Hammondsport, NY. A toast will be given at 2. Clinton D. Wagner, Age 78 of 10 Pine Circle Horseheads, NY passed away after an extended illness on Sunday August 23, 2009. Clinton was born February 28, 1931 in Olean, NY the son of the late Milton Conrad Wagner and Edna Mae Pingrey Wagner. He was a Korean War Veteran serving his country with The U.S. Air Force. Clinton married his wife, Barbara J. Marsh Wagner, on July 11, 1953 and she pre-deceased him on November 30, 2003. Mr. Wagner retired from Verizon in Elmira, NY as a planning engineer and was a member of The Telephone Pioneers. He was formerly a very active member of The Calvary Baptist Church in Horseheads and attended Pine Valley Baptist Church. Clint loved trains and their history and was a member of many railroad preservation clubs. Mr. Wagner is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Patricia Ann & Michael Robertson of Huntland, TN; sons and daughter-in-law: James M. & LuAnnWagner of Niagara Falls, NY and David M. Wagner of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren: Kari Wagner, Kimberly Robertson, Julie Robertson ( Travis) Ennies, and Daniel Robertson; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law: JoAnn Brown, Robert Marsh, David Marsh, and Cort Marsh; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends. Clinton will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Barbara in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY at the convenience of the family. Patricia Ann Poling Gridley, 81, of Huntersville, N.C., passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, in her residence. She was born on Nov. 3, 1931, to the late Edwin and Mary Schen Poling. She enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family. Her passion was teaching young kids and she did this for 40 years as an elementary school teacher. Along with her parents, Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; daughter, Gretchen Johnson and her husband, Fred of Blountville, Tenn.; step-children, Bruce Gridley and his wife, Carmen of Maryland, Jill Carpenter and her husband, Kevin of Texas; grandchildren, Sasha and Ian Johnson; and sister, Marylou Shaw and husband, Hank of South Carolina. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Northlake Memorial Gardens, Huntersville with the Rev. Christopher Thore officiating. Bonita M. “Bonny” Gavitt, King Ferry: Bonita M. “Bonny” Gavitt, 81, of Ledyard Road, King Ferry, NY, died Monday September 30, 2013, in Auburn Community Hospital. Bonny was born in Wellsville, NY the daughter of the late Richard and Edith Snyder Goodliff and has resided in Southern Cayuga County since 1965. Bonny began her career as an administrative assistant at the Industrial Labor Relation School at Cornell University. She worked in the Southern Cayuga School District as an administrative assistant in the elementary office, middle school and for the District Superintendent. Most importantly, Bonny loved working with children of all ages and supporting her colleges and all facets of education. Surviving are: 2 sons, Ben K. Gavitt and his wife Mary Jo of Union Springs, Eric M. Gavitt and his wife Kelly of Lansing; 1 daughter, Paula J. Colton and her husband Rand of King Ferry; 1 brother, Clifford Goodliff of Wellsville; 1 sister, Janet Duffy and her husband Dave of Emerald Isle, NC; 5 grandchildren, Nathaniel Gavitt, Kaycee Nedrow, Brandon Gavitt, and Kelly and Claire Colton; several nieces and nephews. Bonny was predeceased by her husband, Paul of 61 years on September 10, 2013; son, Kelly P. Gavitt who died in 1961; and grandson, Patrick E. who died in 2004. Jack H. Satterlee (Age 81) died May 26, 2012 at home in Spokane. He was born December 13, 1930 in Bradford, PA to George and Milly Satterlee. Jack grew up in Wellsville, New York. During high school he worked delivering telegrams on his bicycle. He graduated from high school in 1949 and joined the Air Force. In 1950 he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Margaret Mullin. Together with their kids they crisscrossed the country as he reported to various Air Force bases for work. Jack retired in 1970 as MSgt and then went to work for many years at URM. Jack had many hobbies including wood working, reading and writing poetry. He loved cars, track meets, traveling, Christmas, penguins and Walmart. Jack delighted in telling stories about his past and, above all, he loved his family. He founded the Satterlee Croquet Invitational; now in its 32nd year — bringing generations together for fun every summer. Jack was a man of integrity. He had a sharp mind, a quick wit and a ready smile. He never knew a stranger. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret and their children Jack H. Satterlee II , George Satterlee, both of Spokane, Ann Warner (Patrick), Liberty Lake and Jill Edens (Jerry) of Marysville, WA, plus six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many fantastic friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans or the Salvation Army. The family would like to thank the staff of the Veterans Hospital and Clinic for their care as well as Family First Senior Care.
